The run had to end some time…
It’s just a shame it happened in our second game of the season!
Unfortunately not many took note of the scorer’s complacency message at the end of the last match report. Confidence was definitely up after our explosive start to the season however it soon dawned on us that we were up against our old rivals from the previous two seasons, who cunningly changed their team name to RMG Connect.
After a poor start we managed to claw our way back to 7-7 at the top of the 5th. Highlights in the first couple of innings were a shock catch from Les ‘Money On The Ball’ Abraham and a fine couple of slugs from Allwyn Fernandez. Outside of that there weren’t many performances to write home about with too many big game players not firing on all cylinders. There were a couple of promising debut performances from Lucy Harris, Joelle Westermark and Charlotte Gallagher. Even the return of the people’s champion Astwood Junior in the final innings couldn’t deny the inevitable result of a 14-8 defeat.
With not much competition the London Eating In Association With Beechwood MVP meal for two award was given to Allwyn who was as tidy as ever in the field and also managed to recapture last year’s batting magic with two huge hits Mr Bonds would have been proud of. Well done Allwyn. Shame about the rest of us!
The next match is on Wednesday 31st and we are all hoping for a return to winning ways.
